CHINA HERITAGE QUARTERLY
China Heritage Project, The Australian National University
The China Heritage Quarterly
http://www.chinaheritagequarterly.org/
previously China Heritage Newsletter, is edited by Bruce G. Doar and
Geremie R. Barm? It covers recent developments and scholarship in
all major areas related to China's heritage, and its contents are
based on a continuous assessment and collation of the latest
archaeological finds, conferences, exhibitions, publications and
media debates, both in Chinese and other relevant languages.
Each issue of the Quarterly provides readers with a different focus,
which is amplified in detail in the Editorial. This is followed by
Features, a section which contains articles related to the theme of
the issue. Articles contains scholastic studies of various aspects of
China's cultural heritage, while Briefs introduces news items on
recent developments in archaeology and museology. New Scholarship
covers conference reports, book reviews, material on recent
monographs and, when appropriate, bibliographical material related to
the focus of the issue.
The six issues published to date cover the following subjects:
Issue No.1 (March 2005): China's New Commitment to Heritage
Issue No.2 (June 2005): Intangible Cultural Heritage
Issue No.3 (September 2005): Xinjiang
Issue No.4 (December 2005): The 80th Anniversary of the Palace Museum
Issue No.5 (March 2006): China's Islamic Heritage
Issue No.6 (June 2006): The Great Wall of China
This online quarterly is produced under the aegis of the China
Heritage Project of The Australian National University's College of
Asia & the Pacific (see
<http://rspas.anu.edu.au/pah/chinaheritageproject/>http://rspas.anu.edu.au/pah/chinaheritageproject/).
The project provides a focus for university-wide research on
traditional China, its modern interpretations and recent scholarship.
Under the direction of Geremie R. Barm? the Project advocates a 'New
Sinology' that builds on traditional Sinological strengths while
emphasizing a robust engagement with the complex and shifting
realities of contemporary China.
